Job Shadow Days will be held from 18 to 29 April
2016-04-18 09:00

The Job Shadow Days is the Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, implemented by the Association of European Business for the fourth time in April 2016. The aim of the action is to minimize the gap between national educational system and international businesses in priority in Belarus and to build the bridge between international companies and the best students, future employees.
Thanks to the cooperation with the Brest Regional Development Fund the Job Shadow Days takes place not only in Minsk, but also in Brest.
What is the Job Shadow Days?
The literal translation is "to follow like a shadow". It is a way to familiarize the student with a profession through support of an experienced person (mentor) in a real work environment normally within one-two working day(s). In this case, the student is able to communicate not only with the mentor, whose "shadow" he is, but also with other professionals, as well as obtain information about the features of chosen profession or position in the company.
What are the benefits for international businesses in Belarus?
Companies have the opportunity to receive the best and most active students, get to know them, and then perhaps invite them to externship. And after graduation to get an efficient and loyal employee. The company itself determines the mentor and criterias for the students search. You should inform AEB about:
- name and position of the chosen mentor in the company;
- preferable criteria for the student (the course, the specialization, knowledge of languages, etc.);
- preferable day or two days for JSD.
What are the advantages for students?
Students observe and are involved in the actual use of what they learn. They test their interest in the chosen profession or field of activity. And afterwards they are able to correct the scheduled academic plan (choose of the course and / or diploma theses, additional training and externship for targeted preparation for a profession). Mentors provide students with the company's brand and philosophy, career opportunities.
The Job Shadow Days are held by the AEB for students and mentors on a free basis.
